A decadent dessert combining fudgy brownies with gooey caramel and crunchy pecans, perfect for holidays, parties, or any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing until combined. Stir in 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the brownies to cool completely.
  4. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter, and 1/4 cup heavy cream. Stir constantly until the mixture begins to boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove the caramel from heat and stir in 2 cups chopped pecans, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  6. Pour the caramel pecan mixture evenly over the cooled brownie layer. Use a spatula to spread it out and ensure every bite gets a caramel pecan topping.
  7. Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set. Once firm, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out of the pan. Slice into squares or rectangles and serve.
