A creamy, smoky, and tender slow cooker chicken recipe with bacon and ranch seasoning that comes together easily with just five ingredients. Perfect for cozy dinners and crowd-pleasing meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 packet (about 1 oz or 28 g) ranch seasoning mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 115 g)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a cold skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes, flipping occasionally. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled. Save some bacon grease for extra flavor if desired.
  2. Rinse and pat dry the chicken breasts. Place them evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. Soften the cream cheese in a bowl (microwave 20-30 seconds if needed). Spread it evenly over the chicken breasts.
  4. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning packet evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  5. Top with shredded cheddar cheese evenly.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  7. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks and stir to mix everything together.
  8. Fold in the crumbled bacon gently, reserving some for garnish if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Do not rush the slow cooker time to ensure chicken shreds easily. Soften cream cheese before adding to avoid clumps. Cook bacon first for best texture and flavor. Use low heat for juicier chicken. Optionally add black pepper or smoked paprika after shredding for extra depth. Line slow cooker with liner for easy cleanup.
