This creamy whipped hot chocolate is a decadent treat with a smooth, velvety texture and rich chocolatey flavor. Perfect for cozy nights or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional toppings: mini marshmallows, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of whole milk, 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar.
  2. Warm over medium heat, whisking constantly until the cocoa powder and sugar dissolve completely. This should take about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Once the mixture is smooth, add 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate chips melt and the mixture becomes rich and creamy. Remove from heat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, pour 1/2 cup of heavy cream and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks. This usually takes about 2–3 minutes with a mixer, or a bit longer by hand.
  6. Pour the hot chocolate into your favorite mug, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  7. Spoon the whipped cream generously over the hot chocolate, letting it cascade slightly over the rim for that irresistible look.
  8. Add your favorite toppings—mini marshmallows, chocolate shavings, or a sprinkle of cinnamon—and enjoy!

Notes

Use high-quality cocoa powder for the best flavor. Ensure heavy cream is cold for proper whipping. Customize sweetness and toppings to your preference.
