This recipe delivers crispy, golden chicken thighs with a bold garlic parmesan seasoning, cooked quickly and easily in an air fryer for a juicy, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (1.5 to 2 pounds or 700900 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 50 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme blend)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the chicken thighs with paper towels to remove moisture from the skin. (5 minutes)
  2. In a large bowl, combine garlic powder, grated parmesan, paprika, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly mixed. (2 minutes)
  3. Toss the chicken thighs with olive oil to coat evenly. (2 minutes)
  4. Sprinkle the seasoning mix over the thighs and toss gently until each piece is well coated. (3 minutes)
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  6. Arrange chicken thighs skin-side down in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. (2 minutes)
  7. Cook for 12 minutes at 400°F (200°C). Then flip the thighs to skin-side up carefully with tongs. (12 minutes)
  8. Cook for another 8-10 minutes until the skin is golden and crisp and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). (8-10 minutes)
  9. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. (5 minutes)
  10. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Patting the chicken skin dry is crucial for crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Flip the chicken halfway through cooking for best results. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness at 165°F (74°C). If parmesan browns too quickly, reduce temperature by 10-15°F or cover loosely with foil. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
