A quick and easy homemade club sandwich featuring crispy toasted bread, savory turkey and bacon, fresh veggies, and a tangy mayo-mustard spread for the perfect satisfying bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 slices white or whole wheat sandwich bread
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 6 slices cooked turkey breast, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices crispy bacon, cooked and drained
  • 3 slices sharp cheddar or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce, shredded or whole leaves
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Heat skillet over medium heat and cook 6 slices of bacon until crispy, about 6-8 minutes, flipping occasionally. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess grease.
  2. Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice. Toast the bread, butter side down, in a clean skillet over medium heat until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. For extra crunch, toast twice but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  3. In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup mayonnaise with 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard. Stir until smooth.
  4. Wash and slice 1 large tomato and 1 small cucumber thinly. Tear or shred about 1 cup of iceberg lettuce into sandwich-friendly pieces. Season tomato slices lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. On one toasted bread slice, spread a generous amount of the mayo-mustard mixture on the non-toasted side. Layer 2 slices of turkey breast, a slice of cheese, and some lettuce.
  6. Place a second slice of toasted bread on top, spread mayo mixture again, then layer 2 more turkey slices, 3 slices of crispy bacon, tomato slices, cucumber slices, and a little more lettuce.
  7. Top with the last slice of toasted bread, mayo side down. Press gently to compact the layers slightly.
  8. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut the sandwich diagonally into quarters. Secure each quarter with toothpicks or sandwich picks to hold the layers in place.
  9. Optional: For a warmer sandwich, place assembled sandwich in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to melt cheese and warm layers. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

Toast bread twice for extra crunch but watch carefully to avoid burning. Use paper towels to drain bacon grease to prevent sogginess. Spread mayo-mustard on each bread slice to keep sandwich fresh and crisp. Use a serrated knife to cut sandwich cleanly. For gluten-free option, substitute bread with gluten-free bread and toast carefully.
