A quick and easy baked chicken parmesan recipe with a crispy breadcrumb crust, gooey mozzarella, and savory marinara sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded to even thickness
  • 1 cup (100 g) Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3/4 cup (85 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Place chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) thickness.
  3. In a shallow bowl, combine Italian seasoned breadcrumbs and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  4. Press each chicken breast firmly into the breadcrumb mixture, coating all sides evenly.
  5. Place coated chicken breasts on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. If no rack, place directly on a greased baking sheet and plan to flip halfway through baking.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and spoon marinara sauce over each piece, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
  8. Return to oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

For gluten-free, substitute Italian breadcrumbs with crushed almond flour or gluten-free panko. Use dairy-free cheese alternatives if needed. Use a wire rack for crispier crust or flip chicken halfway if no rack. Watch cheese closely to avoid burning; tent with foil if needed. Let chicken rest after baking to keep it juicy.
