This easy crockpot chicken wings recipe uses just three simple ingredients and slow cooks the wings to tender perfection, making it a perfect game day snack that’s fuss-free and delicious.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • ½ cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing for dipping)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the buffalo sauce, melted butter, and garlic powder. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  3. Place the wings directly into the slow cooker, spreading them evenly.
  4. Pour the buffalo sauce mixture over the wings, coating each wing as best as possible.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2.5 to 3 hours until wings are tender.
  6. Optional: For crispy skin, preheat the oven broiler. Transfer wings to a foil-lined baking sheet and broil 3-5 minutes per side until crisp and lightly charred.
  7. Serve wings drizzled with ranch dressing or with ranch on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Pat wings dry before cooking to help sauce stick better. For crispy skin, broil wings after slow cooking. Use a meat thermometer to ensure wings reach 165°F (74°C). You can thicken sauce with cornstarch slurry if too thin after cooking. Frozen wings must be fully thawed before cooking.
