Easy Homemade Lunchable - featured image

A quick, simple, and satisfying snack combining savory turkey, crunchy crackers, creamy cheese, and crisp apple slices. Perfect for lunchboxes or on-the-go snacking with flexible ingredient options.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces (115 grams) deli turkey slices, nitrate-free or low-sodium
  • 1215 sturdy crackers (whole grain or multigrain, e.g., Triscuit)
  • 34 ounces (85115 grams) cheese (sharp cheddar, pepper jack, or Swiss), sliced or cubed
  • 1 medium apple, thinly sliced (e.g., Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • Optional: small handful of nuts (almonds or walnuts)
  • Optional: drizzle of honey mustard for dipping

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry one medium apple. Slice thinly about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick. Optionally toss slices in lemon juice to prevent browning. (3 minutes)
  2. Cut 3-4 ounces (85-115 grams) of cheese into bite-sized pieces or thin slices. (2-3 minutes)
  3. Fold or roll about 4 ounces (115 grams) of deli turkey slices into bite-sized portions. (1-2 minutes)
  4. Lay out 12-15 sturdy crackers on a serving plate or lunchbox compartment, spaced apart to avoid sogginess.
  5. Arrange turkey portions, cheese slices, and apple slices on the plate or lunchbox sections. Add nuts or honey mustard in small bowls or compartments if desired. (2 minutes)

Notes

Keep crackers separate until just before eating to maintain crunch. Toss apple slices in lemon juice to prevent browning. Use sturdy crackers to avoid snapping under toppings. Roll or fold turkey slices instead of stacking for easier eating and better presentation. Adaptable for vegetarian and gluten-free diets with suitable substitutions.
