  • 2 cups (200 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sour cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • 2 small carrot sticks, cut small (for the nose)
  • 1214 mini pretzel twists or rods (for arms and scarf accents)
  • Whole black peppercorns or cloves (for eyes and buttons)
  • Optional: 1 tbsp chopped green onions or chives

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Beat with a hand mixer on medium speed until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Fold in the shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and freshly ground black pepper gently to combine.
  4. Stir in the chopped fresh parsley evenly.
  5. Divide the cheese mixture into three balls of descending size: approximately 1 cup (225 g) for the bottom, 3/4 cup (170 g) for the middle, and 1/2 cup (110 g) for the head. Use plastic wrap to roll each ball tightly, then stack them on a serving plate, pressing gently to secure.
  6. Chill the stacked snowman in the refrigerator for 1 hour to firm up.
  7. Press black peppercorns or cloves into the head for eyes and along the middle and bottom balls for buttons. Insert a small carrot stick for the nose, angling it slightly upward.
  8. Gently poke pretzel rods into each side of the middle ball for arms. Optionally, wrap pretzel twists around the neck area to mimic a scarf.
  9. Refrigerate the fully assembled snowman for another 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Soften cream cheese thoroughly before mixing to avoid lumps. Fold in shredded cheddar gently to keep texture. Chill between stacking layers to maintain shape. Use thin pretzel rods or twists for arms to avoid overpowering the cheese ball. Add pretzel arms just before serving to keep crunch. Keep hands slightly damp when shaping to prevent sticking.
