A festive and easy-to-make layered jello shot recipe featuring red, white, and blue layers with a creamy middle, perfect for parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3 oz / 85g) strawberry or cherry gelatin (red layer)
  • 1 box (3 oz / 85g) blueberry or raspberry gelatin (blue layer)
  • 1 package (0.25 oz / 7g) unflavored gelatin (for creamy middle layer)
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) boiling water (for dissolving gelatin)
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) cold vodka (plain or flavored like citrus or berry)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream or canned coconut milk (for creamy white layer)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) cold water (to mix with cream layer gelatin)
  • Optional: red, white, and blue sprinkles or edible glitter for garnish
  • Optional: small plastic shot glasses or silicone molds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Boil 1 cup (240 ml) water and dissolve the red gelatin mix in it by whisking for 2-3 minutes. Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and stir gently. Pour evenly into 12 shot glasses or molds, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until firm but not rock hard.
  2. Prepare the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over ½ cup (120 ml) cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Warm the cream or coconut milk gently (do not boil). Stir the gelatin into the warm cream until dissolved. Cool to room temperature, then add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and stir. Carefully spoon or pour over the set red layer. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve the blue gelatin mix in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water, whisk, then add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka. Once the white layer is set, pour the blue mixture gently on top. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight to fully set.
  4. Finishing Touches: Add sprinkles or edible glitter on top just before serving. Keep shots chilled until ready to enjoy.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid bubbles. Chill each layer until firm before adding the next to prevent mixing. For quicker setting, chill layers in the freezer for 15 minutes but watch closely to avoid freezing solid. Use flavored vodka for added taste variations. Store leftovers covered in the fridge up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
