A unique burger recipe combining creamy peanut butter, crispy bacon, and juicy beef patties for a deliciously unexpected flavor experience. Perfect for quick weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 6 thick-cut bacon slices, cooked until crispy
  • 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 4 sturdy burger buns, toasted lightly
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar or American cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce leaves, washed and patted dry
  • 1 large tomato, sliced into medium-thick rounds
  • Thinly sliced red onion (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for toasting buns and greasing pan

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bacon: Lay 6 thick-cut bacon slices on a cold skillet and cook over medium heat until crispy, about 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels and set aside. Save about 1 tablespoon of the bacon fat in the pan for cooking the patties if desired.
  2. Form the beef patties: Divide 1 pound of ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Shape each into a patty roughly ¾ inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the patties: Heat grill or grill pan to medium-high. Cook patties about 4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Add cheese slices on top during the last minute to melt. Use a meat thermometer to ensure internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  4. Toast the buns: Lightly butter the insides of burger buns and toast on grill or pan until golden and slightly crisp, about 1–2 minutes.
  5. Spread peanut butter: Using a butter knife, spread about ¾ tablespoon of creamy peanut butter evenly on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  6. Assemble the burgers: On each peanut butter-coated bun bottom, layer a lettuce leaf, cooked beef patty with melted cheese, 1–2 slices of crispy bacon, tomato slice, and red onion if using. Top with the bun crown.
  7. Serve immediately with your favorite sides and a cold drink.

Notes

Do not overmix beef to keep patties tender. Use thick-cut bacon for best texture. Spread peanut butter thinly to avoid overpowering the burger. Toast buns well to prevent sogginess. Let patties rest 2 minutes before assembling. Warm peanut butter slightly if too thick for spreading.
