Crunchy pretzels, buttery caramel, and velvety chocolate come together in this easy no-bake dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups salted pretzels, crushed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • Sea salt flakes for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Crush the pretzels into small pieces, leaving some texture. Mix with melted butter and press firmly into the bottom of a parchment-lined 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and melted butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbling (about 4-5 minutes). Add sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, stirring until fully incorporated. Pour over the pretzel base and spread evenly. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Melt chocolate chips with heavy cream using a microwave (30-second intervals, stirring in between) or a double boiler until smooth. Pour over the caramel layer and spread evenly.
  4. Sprinkle flaky sea salt over the chocolate layer while still warm.
  5. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until the layers are firm. Lift the bars out using parchment paper.
  6. Slice into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

[‘Leave some larger chunks of pretzels for texture.’, ‘If caramel looks grainy, lower the heat and stir gently.’, ‘Adding heavy cream to the chocolate ensures a silky finish.’, ‘Chill the bars long enough for the layers to set properly.’, ‘Sprinkle sea salt while the chocolate is still warm for better adherence.’]
