A festive and easy layered dip that mimics the American flag, perfect for Fourth of July and summer celebrations. It combines creamy, tangy, and crunchy layers with fresh veggies and bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) black olives, sliced
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then mix until evenly incorporated.
  2. Transfer the creamy mixture to your serving dish and gently spread it out into an even rectangle or oval shape, about 9×13 inches (23×33 cm).
  3. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack evenly over the creamy base. Press down lightly so it sticks but doesn’t mix in.
  4. Dice tomatoes and finely chop red bell pepper. Drain excess juice if tomatoes are very juicy. Spread this red mixture evenly over the white cheese layer.
  5. Slice black olives into thin rounds. Arrange these on the top-left corner of the dip to mimic the star field of the American flag. Use star-shaped cutters if desired.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle chopped parsley or chives around the edges or over the red layer. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and layers set.
  7. Remove from fridge about 10 minutes before serving to soften slightly. Serve with crunchy pita chips, tortilla chips, or crisp vegetable sticks.

Notes

Soften cream cheese fully before mixing for smooth layers. Drain diced tomatoes well to prevent watery dip. Spread layers gently but firmly to maintain the flag shape. Chill at least 30 minutes before serving. Can be made up to 24 hours ahead. For vegan or low-carb versions, swap ingredients as suggested in the recipe.
