Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) red raspberry or strawberry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (choose a smooth brand like Tito’s or Smirnoff)
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) lemon-lime gelatin (like lime or lemon jello)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) lemon-lime soda
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vodka
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red layer: Pour 1 cup boiling water over the red gelatin powder in a bowl. Stir briskly for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Let it cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup vodka gently. Pour the mixture evenly into shot cups, filling each about one-third full. Refrigerate for 45-60 minutes until firm but not rock solid.
  2. Make the white layer: Dissolve lemon-lime gelatin in 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir for 2 minutes until smooth. Add 1/2 cup lemon-lime soda and 1/4 cup vodka, whisk gently to combine. Ensure mixture is cool but still liquid. Slowly pour over the set red layer using a spoon to avoid mixing. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until set.
  3. Finish with the blue layer: Dissolve blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved, then cool slightly. Mix in 1/2 cup vodka. Pour carefully over the white layer. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until fully set.
  4. Serve and enjoy: Once all layers are firm, keep refrigerated until serving. Gently peel cups or serve directly in disposable containers.

Notes

Use fresh gelatin packets for best texture. Let gelatin mixtures cool slightly before adding vodka to avoid affecting setting. Pour layers slowly over the back of a spoon to maintain separation. Vodka straight from the freezer works best. For a lower-proof version, replace half the vodka with water or lemonade. Non-alcoholic versions can use cold water or lemon-lime soda instead of vodka. Store leftovers covered in the fridge up to 3 days; do not freeze.
