  • Juice and zest of half a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste (kosher or sea salt)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it warm up for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them skin-side down on a plate.
  3. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice and zest, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, fresh dill, and smoked paprika if using.
  4. Brush the marinade evenly on both sides of the salmon fillets and let them sit for 5 minutes while the air fryer preheats.
  5. Arrange the fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
  6. Cook for 10-12 minutes depending on thickness; thinner fillets need about 10 minutes, thicker ones about 12 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness; salmon is medium-rare at 125°F (52°C) and well done at 145°F (63°C).
  8. Let the salmon rest for 2 minutes in the air fryer basket after cooking.
  9. Optionally, squeeze extra fresh lemon juice over the top and garnish with more fresh dill before serving.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking. Use fresh dill for best flavor. Let salmon rest after cooking to keep it juicy. If using frozen salmon, thaw first or increase cooking time to 15-18 minutes. Butter or plant-based spread can be added before serving for extra richness.
