A fast and easy mug pizza recipe that delivers comforting, cheesy pizza in under five minutes using simple pantry ingredients and a microwave.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/16 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons marinara or pizza sauce
  • 3 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional toppings: mini pepperoni slices, diced bell peppers, sliced olives, fresh basil

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug or small mixing bowl, combine 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 1/8 teaspoon baking powder, 1/16 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons of milk and 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth and thick but stirrable.
  3. Spoon 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce over the batter, then sprinkle 3 tablespoons of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top. Add any optional toppings as desired.
  4. Microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Start with 90 seconds and check; the pizza should puff up and cheese should be melted and bubbly.
  5. Let the mug pizza cool for about 1 minute before eating to allow the dough to firm up slightly.

Notes

Do not overfill the mug to allow room for the dough to rise. Stir dry ingredients well before adding liquids to avoid clumps. Adjust milk quantity to get a thick but spreadable batter. Rotate mug halfway through cooking if your microwave cooks unevenly. Let the mug pizza rest after cooking to firm up. Use fresh baking powder and baking soda for best results. Avoid too many wet toppings to prevent sogginess.
