A cool, tangy, and floral margarita pitcher combining tart hibiscus tea, sweet blackberries, and crisp tequila, perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 hibiscus tea bags
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen blackberries
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) tequila blanco
  • ½ cup (120ml) fresh lime juice (about 45 limes)
  • ½ cup (120ml) simple syrup
  • 1 cup (240ml) sparkling water (optional)
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Salt or sugar for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Fresh blackberries and lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 cups (480ml) of water and steep the 2 hibiscus tea bags for about 10 minutes until the color is deep and vibrant. Remove the bags and let the tea cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes).
  2. Mash the frozen blackberries in a bowl using a fork or muddler for a smooth texture, or leave whole for chunkier texture. Strain seeds if desired.
  3. In a pitcher, combine the cooled hibiscus tea, mashed blackberries, 1 ½ cups (360ml) tequila blanco, ½ cup (120ml) fresh lime juice, and ½ cup (120ml) simple syrup. Stir well to blend all flavors evenly. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed.
  4. Just before serving, stir in 1 cup (240ml) sparkling water for a refreshing fizz. Skip or reduce for less fizz.
  5. Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour margarita over, and garnish with fresh blackberries and lime wedges. Rim glasses with salt or sugar if desired.

Notes

Steep hibiscus tea for at least 10 minutes for full flavor. Use fresh lime juice for best taste. Muddle blackberries gently to avoid bitterness. Chill hibiscus tea and tequila before mixing to keep drink cool longer. Add sparkling water last and stir gently to preserve fizz. Adjust sweetness gradually. For non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and increase sparkling water or add fruit juice.
